Katherine Spellmon

Voice Instructor

Katherine Spellmon, soprano, grew up around the United States and Germany as a military child. She earned a spot in Interlochen’s Musical Theatre Camp, the Missouri All State Choir, the Virginia All State Choir, and NAfME’s All National Choir. Additionally, the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest recognized her as one of its 240 Outstanding Performers from a field that started with nearly 64,000 musicians. Katherine is fortunate to have had supportive teachers everywhere she moved who not only taught her about the gift of music, but also gave her the confidence to share her voice. Before moving to Texas, Katherine studied under Denise Gulley of the Washington National Opera. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.M. Degree in Vocal Performance and a Minor in English from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. She currently studies with Barbara Hill Moore, pursuing a M.M. Degree in Vocal Performance at Southern Methodist University. Katherine’s title roles include, Liesl in The Sound of Music, Little Mary Sunshine in Little Mary Sunshine, Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, in addition to Angelina in SMU’s Trial by Jury this spring. Katherine currently works as a soprano soloist at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Irving, Texas.
